Explore Tilgate Park like never before, not just through your eyes!
Following Saturday Sessions, we’re pleased to be welcoming Izzy back to Crawley.
Join us on a Foraging Walk across the park, learning about the different plants that grow there and if you’re feeling brave, eating a few.
Participants can expect to talk about a series of different plant species in turn and discuss how to identify them, which ones are edible, which are toxic, and how to tell them apart. There’ll also be space to talk about recipes, plant history, folklore, bushcraft, traditional herbal medicines and more.
This event is presented in Crawley at Around The Lake Festival as part of Saturday Sessions by Creative Playground.
Date: Sunday 14 July
Time: 1 – 3pm
Duration: 2 hours
Accessibility: The foraging walk route is accessible by foot and wheelchair, but please note it involves moving around the park for the duration.
This event is SOLD OUT. To join the Waiting List, please click the link above. You will be emailed if a space becomes available.
FAQs
- Is Foraging suitable for children?
In Izzy’s experience, children tend to lose interest unless they are really keen to learn about plants. We’d recommend this is an activity for adults aged 18+.
- How will I know something is safe to eat?
If you are not comfortable eating anything, we do not recommend you do. Izzy will go through the ‘dos and donts’ of foraging and is there to keep you safe!
About Rights For Weeds
Rights For Weeds is a project that arose as a way to celebrate nature’s most unloved and often most powerful plants. Using a mix of foraging, folklore, bushcraft and the arts, Rights For Weeds aims to unite the people and plants that make up the urban ecosystem.
